Blackberry Barbecue Sauce
Blackberry barbecue sauce can be used to coat your meat or as a delicious dipping sauce. For this easy-to-make sauce, you’ll need:
- ½ Cup of Blackberry Preserves
- 1 ½ Cup Ketchup
- Brown Sugar, Cayenne Pepper, and Mustard Powder
- 2 Tbsp. Red Wine Vinegar
All that you need to do from there is mix all of your ingredients together and season to taste. We promise that this blackberry barbecue sauce will be the highlight of any meal!

Blackberry Barbecued Ribs
You may never have considered that a sweet fruit like blackberries could be used to enhance a meal like barbecued ribs. If this is the case, you have been missing out! Outside of the ribs, gather:
- 1 ½ Cups of Blackberry Jam
- ½ Cup Ketchup
- ½ Cup Brown Sugar
- Minced Ginger, Hot Sauce, and Freshly Ground Pepper
Cook your ribs like normal (about 20 minutes on each side at 350 degrees), and baste each side with a puree made from the rest of your ingredients. The paste should form a delectable, sticky glaze that will bring a lot of flavor to your dish.

Blackberry Chicken
Maybe you are looking for something slightly lighter than a rack of spare ribs. Blackberry chicken is a great substitute if you are watching your weight or simply aren’t interested in a messy meal. Just like with your barbecue ribs, you will want to gather:
- 6 Boneless Chicken Breasts
- 1 ½ Cup of Blackberries
- 2 Tbsp. White Wine Vinegar
- 2 Tbsp. Brown Sugar
- Garlic, Pepper, Salt, Cumin, and Thyme
- ½ Cup Chicken Broth
Prepare your sauce by mixing together your blackberries, broth, vinegar, and seasonings. Then, spread the glaze over your chicken breasts in a baking dish and cook for 20-25 minutes at 375 degrees. Once your meat is finished cooking, you can combine the pan drippings with cornstarch to make a blackberry gravy to add even more flavor to your meal.

Blackberry Ketchup
Just like in our barbecue sauce, blackberries can add a lot of sweetness to what would otherwise be your typical ketchup. You will need:
- 2 Cups of Blackberries
- ½ Cup White Vinegar
- ½ Cup Water
Simply mix the blackberries with the vinegar, bring the mixture to a boil, and then let it simmer for about 5 minutes. Sieve out the seeds, then add brown sugar, cloves, and any number of other spices and herbs to taste. After simmering for another 10 minutes, it should start to thicken. Let it cool and you will have delicious blackberry ketchup!
